Equipment for Phase 3-D Ground Stations

Until the satellite is operational it is difficult to say exactly what the minimum antenna requirements will be. The following should give ample performance on Phase 3-D and are either commercially available or easy to construct.

Mode Frequency Antenna
U V Uplink 435 MHz 11el. Yagi 12.5 dBdC 1.9m boom
Downlink 145 MHz 5el Yagi 9.0 dBdC 2.1m boom
U S Uplink 435 MHz same as UV uplink
Downlink 2.4 GHz 28t Helix 1m long or
60cm Dish
L U Uplink 1.27 GHz 16t Helix 1.1m or
20el Yagi 1.5m
Downlink 435 MHz same as UV link
L S Uplink 1.27 GHz same as LU uplink
Downlink 2.4 GHz same as US downlink

So you see, with a system of four compact antennas you can be active on the four main modes on Phase 3-D. No more problems with the neighbours or the XYL complaining about large antenna systems!
